This Privacy Policy explains how DecideWeather, LLC ("we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Service. It is incorporated into our Terms of Service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to operate the Service:
- Account information: the email address and password you provide at signup. After signing up, you may optionally add a display name to your account; providing a name is not required to create or use the Service.
- Job-site information: the locations (addresses and/or coordinates) you add so we can generate weather verdicts for them.
- Payment information: when you subscribe, payment is processed by our third-party payment processor (Stripe, Inc.) on the web, or by the Apple App Store or Google Play for mobile purchases. We do not store full payment-card numbers; we may retain limited billing metadata (such as subscription status and the processor's customer identifier).
- Technical and usage data: standard information such as device, app version, log, and diagnostic data generated when you use the Service, and — if you enable them — push-notification identifiers used to deliver alerts.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to: provide and operate the Service and generate verdicts for your job sites; send you alerts and service-related communications; process subscriptions and billing; maintain security and prevent abuse; analyze and improve the Service, including refining our verdict logic and thresholds; and send you product news, new-feature announcements, and other communications about DecideWeather.
Two kinds of email, and you control them differently. Service communications — weather alerts, forecast-change notifications, trial and billing notices, security notices, and account messages — are part of the Service; you manage alert delivery in your account settings, and we may still send you essential account, billing, and security messages while your account exists. Product and promotional emails are separate: every one includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing from them does not affect your weather alerts or any other part of the Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it except with the service providers described below or as required by law.
3. Service Providers We Share With
We rely on trusted third parties to run the Service, and they may process limited information on our behalf:
- Hosting and application infrastructure: Cloudflare, Inc.
- Database and authentication: Supabase, Inc.
- Payment processing: Stripe, Inc. (web), and the Apple App Store / Google Play for mobile purchases, each of which handles your payment details directly under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Email delivery: Resend, Inc., which sends transactional and product email on our behalf.
- Weather, air-quality, and geocoding data providers, which receive job-site coordinates in order to return forecasts and resolve locations (see the Data Sources and Attributions section of our Terms of Service).
These providers are permitted to use the information only to provide their services to us.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use a small number of first-party cookies and similar browser storage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell or share this information with anyone. They fall into three categories:
- Strictly necessary: session cookies set through our authentication provider (Supabase, Inc.) keep you signed in and let us verify each request you make. These are required for the Service to function — without them you cannot log in — and they cannot be turned off from within the Service. Clearing them signs you out.
- Functional and preference: our public website stores a single value in your browser's local storage (named
dw-audience) to remember whether you last viewed contractor or golf content, so the site opens on the material you chose. It contains no identifier, and it is never transmitted to us. - Marketing and attribution: if you arrive at our website from one of our marketing campaigns, we set a first-party cookie (named
dw_attr) that records which campaign brought you — the campaign source, name, content variant and medium, the page you first landed on, and the date and time of that first visit. It contains no name, email address, or advertising identifier. We use it for one purpose: to understand which campaigns lead people to start a trial. If you later create an account, that campaign record is stored with your account and is deleted when your account is deleted, as described in Section 5. The cookie expires automatically 30 days after your first visit, is set only on our own decideweather.com domains, is never sent to any third party, and is not used to build an advertising profile or to follow you across other websites. You can remove it at any time by clearing cookies for decideweather.com in your browser settings; blocking or deleting it has no effect on your use of the Service. When you arrive from a campaign, our website also records that visit on our own server — the campaign source, name and content variant, the page you landed on, the date and time, whether the page stayed open or was scrolled, whether you tapped a start-a-trial button, and a random visit number that is created for that visit alone, is not saved on your device, and cannot be connected to you or to any other visit — so we can count how many campaign visits are real people and how many go on to start a trial. That record contains no IP address, name, email address, or device identifier.
We do not use these technologies to make automated decisions about you, and declining the functional or marketing items above does not reduce any feature of the Service.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. You may delete your account from within the Service, which removes your associated personal information except where we must retain limited records for legal, security, or billing purposes. You may also contact us at support@decideweather.com to request access to or deletion of your information. Where we are required to retain records to evidence your agreement to our Terms, we retain the record of that acceptance — your email address, the version accepted, and the time of acceptance — after account deletion.
6. Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, consistent with applicable law including the New York SHIELD Act. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your private information occurs, we will notify you and any authorities as required by applicable law and without unreasonable delay.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. We honor these rights as required by applicable state privacy laws. To exercise a right, contact us at support@decideweather.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may unsubscribe from product and promotional emails at any time using the link in any such email, or by contacting us at support@decideweather.com. We will honor the request promptly. This does not affect service communications, which are described above.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is a business tool intended for users 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
9. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States and intended for U.S. business users only. We do not target users in the European Union or other jurisdictions with separate data-localization requirements. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative.
